Purple and Gold LOTD ;)

Hello everyone! Today I did a look using gold and purple with a pop of shimmer on the inner corners and I used a color similar to my skin tone on the brow bone. Since a lot of my stuff is packed I couldn't find the right lipgloss or lipstick color so I just went with a shimmery peachy neutral lipgloss. Gotta work with what ya got, ya know? ;) I contoured my cheeks with a bronzer from the Tarte Jewlery Box Palette (which I will review later) which is FABULOUS for fair skin! Thoughts, comments? Constructive criticism is welcome :)

Missha M BB Boomer Review

You can purchase the BB Boomer here.

The Missha M BB Boomer is a primer and luminizer that is to be worn underneath the BB Cream for longer wear. (If you don't know what a BB Cream is, click here.)

  • Has a beautiful, but subtle pink shimmer to it for a healthy glow
  • Somewhat moisturizing
  •  It didn't cause any breakouts for me
  • Dries quickly
  • Works AMAZINGLY as a cheek highlighter if applied after foundation
  • Has an awful scent, very similar to cat urine cleaners
  • Because of the glowy shimmer, it would only emphasize oily skin
  • I didn't notice any priming effects. It doesn't look like it created any kind of barrier between my skin and the BB Cream
  • It did not make the BB Cream any more long wearing that it already is
  • Expensive
  • Not easy to find in the US unless you order online

So, overall my thoughts are pretty neutral about this product. I have combination skin so an all-over glow makes my T-Zone look even worse. I can understand why someone else with very dry skin would love this product though. I'm just glad I found a good use for it; a cheek highlighter!

Alba Botanica Natural Acnedote Oil Control Lotion

  • Contains 2% Salicylic Acid.
  • Dries Quickly.
  • Did not cause breakouts for me.
  • Helped heal my acne faster.
  • Hydrates but not enough to make your skin look greasy. This would be great for combo skin.

  • Did very little for mattifying/oil control.
  • Burns a little if used after exfoliating or is massaged in roughly or too much. Definitely burns the eyes.
  • Smells like a strong menthol which isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea.
  • The price tag (around $12 at Walmart) doesn't meet up to quality and size (2 oz) of this product.

How To Sanitize Your Makeup And Brushes

If you wear makeup and you're finding that you are frequently catching eye infections, acne, cysts, and colds it might be because your makeup and tools for applying it are collecting bacteria. If you're a makeup artist or have received used makeup from a friend or a swap online, sanitizing your makeup is extremely important.

*The number one thing that you need is rubbing alcohol. You want at least 91% because it dries quickly and if you use anything lower than 91% on a powder based product, it can ruin the texture of the product. You can put the alcohol into a small spray bottle so it doesn't take up too much space.

*If you're applying makeup on others, you need to sanitize your products before and after each use because of double dipping. Makeup artists scoop out loose pigments or cream based products so they don't have to sanitize anything except the palette they put the product onto.

If you want to sanitize:

Pressed Eyeshadows/Blushes/Powder- First scrape off the top layer of the eyeshadow with a small spatula or a firm eyeliner brush. Then you can lightly mist with rubbing alcohol once or twice keeping it about 1.5 ft away from from the eyeshadow. Dry products like these don't accumulate bacteria as much as moist cream/liquid products do so if you are worried about a change in texture after spraying it with alcohol, rubbing off the surface with a dry paper towel will work fine.

Loose Eyeshadows/Powders- These types of eyeshadows/powders usually have plastic pieces in the jar with tiny holes in them like a sifter to bring only a small amount of powder to the top. This is very hygienic so you don't have to worry about sanitizing the product itself, just the top of the sifter if you're dipping your brush into it. I like to spray rubbing alcohol on a tissue and wipe off the top and it's good to go.

Eye/Lip Pencils- Sharpen them well and spray them with rubbing alcohol after each use. Simple as that!

Cream Based Products (Blush, Eyeshadow or Concealer and Foundations in Pans, ect)- If you aren't a makeup artist there isn't any reason to scrape it out before you dip your fingers or brush into it. I spray them a few times with rubbing alcohol and then wipe them down with a paper towel after each use.

Lipstick or Anything Cream Based in a Stick Form- Wipe the tip well with a tissue and dip in a cap full of rubbing alcohol or you can spray it with alcohol, then leave it to dry.

Lipglosses, Liquid Eyeliners, Mascara, Primers- These don't need sanitized if you're only applying makeup on yourself. However, they do collect bacteria so only use them on yourself and throw them out when the product expires. Artists will have separate wands/tools that can be dipped once and thrown away.

Brushes- You need to spot clean your brushes after every use, which various makeup companies sell. MAC has one for $13 and ELF has one for $3. If you're only applying makeup on yourself, you should wash your brushes with lukewarm water and baby shampoo at least once every 2 weeks depending on how often you put on makeup. If you're a makeup artist, you obviously need to wash them more often. Various makeup companies sell brush shampoos but they are a waste of money because you can find gentle shampoos anywhere.

Various Tools/Accessories (Palettes, Scissors, Tweezers, Spatulas, False Eyelashes ect)- These can also be sanitized with a tissue and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle.

Eve Pearl Dual Salmon Concealer & Treatment Review

This concealer retails for $37 here on the official website. You can probably find a cheaper one on Ebay.

According to the official website, this concealer is free of oil, water, parabens, petrolatum,
fragrance, and cruelty. (But water?? Cool story, bro) This salmon colored concealer has a thin gel like consistency and works best on the blue dark circles underneath your eyes. Yellow concealers mixed with blue under eye circles makes a green cast, and the concealers that are a couple shades lighter than your skin will only brighten the blue a little, but salmon can actually neutralize and mask the blue underneath. So does it work????                                       Here are my before and after pictures.

Without concealer

On the right eye, I used the darker concealer and on the left eye I had used the light. I had a full coverage foundation on in both pictures (applied with a sponge) and Benefit's PowderFlage over top in both of these pictures.

With Concealer

Do you see a huge difference? I don't. I payed over $40 for a concealer that is apparently a miracle product. Unless I am doing something wrong, this salmon colored concealer is no different than any other beigey concealer I have used lol Just goes to show, you can't always believe the hype. Just because it expensive, it doesn't mean that it's amazing. However, this product is not completely awful. The consistency is wonderful which makes it easy to apply, and a tiny bit goes a long way which is fantastic. The darkness under my eyes is severe, so there is pretty much no hope for them lol. I guess I just need to play around with it some more and try different application techniques, and we'll see where that goes....
